Little Acorns welcomes new and existing children to join us for our combined Early Entitlement | Playgroup sessions which run Monday to Friday from 9am to 11:25am during normal school term times.
We look forward to welcoming children to our playgroup sessions which run through the school year. Children aged from 2 years are able to join us for a morning of fun and adventures. Our playgroup also leads onto the Early Entitlement syllabus explained below and also gives children a new found confidence to make new friends and explore new surroundings.
Children who turn the age of 3 before the January term starts are able to apply for Early Entitlement funding from Flintshire County Council. Children who qualify for Early Entitlement can join Little Acorns for 10 hours per week of education and play with other children. From January 2024 we will be providing Early Entitlement hours 5 mornings a week.
Early Entitlement is a great way for the children to get used to a new environment where they can start learning through play and through interacting with other children their age. Early Entitlement is also a great gateway to start the children settling into school as they will be looking to join a school Nursery class from the September.
During our Early Entitlement sessions, we follow the Curriculum for funded non-maintained nursery settings which can be found on the gov.Wales website or by using the link below and you can view the full PDF document.Curriculum for funded non-maintained nursery settings – Hwb (gov.wales)
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our Childcare Lead, Bethan Waite, for further information.Below is an example of cut off dates for funding for Early Entitlement in line with Flintshire County Council advice.

Little Acorns are very excited to have the opportunity to welcome children from the age of 2 years and up to join us for our Playgroup sessions. Our Playgroup sessions are small group sessions which allow the children to learn, make friends and socialise ready for their move to the school Nursery class.
Our playgroup will run throughout the normal school year and the Early Entitlement children will join during the months of January to July.
Our normal session will start with children arriving at 9am where they will take off their coats and bags. The children can then find their face/name on the acorns and pop them on the tree to identify that they are attending Little Acorns for the morning.
We will provide a healthy snack as part of the session which will be given as routine. We use Seesaw as a tool to communicate between Little Acorns and parents/guardians so you can keep up to date with our sessions and fun that we have.
We will combine activities which are both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). If it is a cold day, please send your child with winter clothing including hats, gloves and wellies so we can get outside and enjoy our garden space as much as possible.
Parents/Guardians/Childminders are welcome back to collect the children at 11:20/11:25am to ensure a smooth transition into the next part of our day.
Please contact us if you would like to book in to come and meet Bethan and her team and to also have a look around at our lovely building.
We are currently registered for following Childcare Vouchers. This list is not exhaustive and if you wish to use any other provider please contact us.
